THE SHORT ANSWER

Solar proposals can include several different warranties: panel product, panel performance, inverter, battery, mounting equipment and installer workmanship. They cover different risks, so the headline number alone is not enough.

Product vs performance warranty

A product warranty concerns defects in the module; a performance warranty describes an expected minimum output profile over time. They are not interchangeable.

Other components matter

Inverters and batteries usually have separate terms. Battery warranties may include cycle, throughput or state-of-health conditions.

Read exclusions and process

Check who provides the warranty, what labour or transport is covered, registration requirements and what happens if the installer or manufacturer is no longer trading.

Keep evidence safe

Store contracts, serial numbers, certificates, commissioning records and warranty documents where a future owner can find them.

HOW WE HANDLE THE DETAIL

HEY Solar keeps technical and financial claims tied to the assumptions that make them true. Guidance is reviewed against authoritative UK sources and property-specific decisions belong in a survey and design.
